Hiring the right agency is the beginning, not the outcome. The first 90 days set the trajectory for everything that follows.
- Set up Amazon Manage Your Experiments within 30 days. Run A/B tests on your main image and title for your top 3 SKUs. These tests generate data that directly compounds the PPC work.
- Ask for a TACoS baseline in week 1. Your agency should pull the last 90 days of TACoS data and set clear targets for where it should be at 60 and 90 days. If they cannot produce this in week 1, ask why.
- Request a search term harvest report at the end of month 1. This shows whether the agency is actively finding new converting keywords and eliminating wasted spend. It is the most direct view into how the account is actually being worked.
- Do not judge performance in the first 30 days. Campaigns need 3-4 weeks of data to stabilize after any rebuild. Months 2 and 3 are where meaningful trends emerge. Making changes after 2 weeks of data is how accounts get optimized against noise rather than signal.
- Track organic rank weekly alongside paid performance. If TACoS is improving but organic rank is falling for your primary keywords, the paid efficiency gains are masking an organic problem. Your agency should be flagging this proactively. If they are not, bring it up directly.
